A twist to bullet hell chaos on the Gungeon

Exit the Gungeon is the high-octane sequel to the acclaimed Enter the Gungeon. Developed by Dodge Roll and Singlecore Games, this spinoff-turned-sequel continues the misadventures of the Gungeoneers as they attempt to escape the collapsing Gungeon.

Exit the Gungeon, unlike its predecessor’s sprawling labyrinths, it trades horizontal dungeon crawling for vertical ascension, presenting a side-scrolling bullet hell platformer that dials up the madness while trimming down complexity. The game is faster, more streamlined, and deliberately arcade-like, packing intense action into bite-sized sessions while preserving the absurdity, humor, and chaos fans loved in the original.

Same game, new tricks

Exit the Gungeon plays more like a compact, chaotic ride than a sprawling roguelike journey. Players ride upward-moving elevators while dodging a kaleidoscope of bullets and shooting at waves of bizarre enemies. The dodge roll returns, but now joined by jump mechanics that demand quick reflexes in tight vertical arenas. This time, players wield a single gun that morphs randomly based on performance and a divine "blessing," encouraging adaptability.

Bosses and enemies return in remixed forms, and the dynamic music keeps pace with the relentless action. It benefits from frequent updates and optimizations across platforms, improving performance and adding small content tweaks since its launch. Though there’s less exploration, the compact format keeps adrenaline pumping non-stop. Moreover, the game shines as a fast, focused arcade shooter that’s ideal for quick sessions

Visually, this shooter retains its charming pixel-art style, now adapted for a side-scrolling view. The chaotic charm remains, from talking bullets to weird NPCs who still spout cryptic or hilarious dialogue. While the humor and visual polish remain intact, Exit ditches some of the exploration and gear variety that gave Enter the Gungeon its deeper roguelike structure. This may disappoint fans seeking a longer, loot-driven experience.

A shorter climb packed with style

Exit the Gungeon reimagines its predecessor’s formula with bold arcade energy and streamlined chaos. It trades depth for speed, offering fast-paced bullet hell action in short, satisfying bursts. While it may not have the same exploratory richness as Enter the Gungeon, it excels as a flashy, focused follow-up. For fans of quick, intense action with style and personality, it’s a thrilling and worthy encore.
